TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Iran's Naval Force has been transformed into a major power in the region, said head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi here on Sunday.

Addressing a gathering of naval officers, he referred to the upcoming 30th anniversary of victory of the Islamic Revolution and said that in the past, Iran needed the assistance of foreigners even for repairing military hardware but now it has managed to produce and maintain all defense equipment.
Before the victory of the Islamic Revolution, all western countries including France and Germany cooperated with Iran in the field of nuclear energy but after the its triumph they suspended their collaboration assuming that Iran will not be able to make progress in the field.
""However, by the grace of God and relying on national beliefs, we could conquer the highest peaks in the field,"" Boroujerdi said.
